"Anomalies in the YouTube Algorithm" — "Anomalie nell'Algoritmo di YouTube"

L’algoritmo youtubico è completamente pazzo… Non si capisce come mai sia così strano rispetto a tutti quelli di altre piattaforme che hanno sia ricerca testuale, sia raccomandazioni, che pure sono basati su reti neurali. E io in realtà ricordo che era ancora più strano molti anni fa, anche se non so se poco prima o poco dopo il passaggio da un sistema vecio ad uno basato su reti neurali; si parlava proprio di “parte strana di YouTube”, a cui si poteva arrivare seguendo i video raccomandati. Ora questo non c’è più, ma comunque negli anni, attraverso la funzione di ricerca, sono sempre uscite cose strane, digitando caratteri non proprio cristiani. Scary!!! In parte ovviamente sono gli utenti che perpetuano queste stranezze, ma non avrebbero mai iniziato se non fosse l’algoritmo ad avere intrinsecamente qualcosa.

The youtubic algorithm is completely crazy… No one can understand why it’s so strange compared to all of those of other platforms which have both textual search, and recommendation, which too are based on neural networks. And I actually remember that it was even stranger many years ago, even if I don’t know if a bit before or a bit after the switch from an old system to one based on neural networks; they used to precisely refer to a “strange part of YouTube”, at which one could arrive by following the recommended videos. Now this isn’t a thing anymore, but still in the various years, with the search function, strange things have always come out, by typing kinda unorthodox characters. Scary!!! In part obviously it’s the users that perpetuate these strange things, but they wouldn’t ever have started if it wasn’t the algorithm intrinsically having something.
